Meet the Team
Dr. John Emhardt
Dr. John grew up in Indianapolis, IN, and received his bachelor’s degree from DePauw University. He attended Indiana University Dental School in Indianapolis where he discovered his passion for pediatric dentistry.
He continued his dental education by completing his pediatric dental residency at the Indiana School of Dentistry and Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. During his residency, he was selected to participate in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) program and during his second year, he served as Chief Resident. Upon completion of his training, he received the prestigious Ralph E. McDonald Scholar Award for his outstanding performance in pediatric dentistry.

After his residency, Dr. John was selected for the Indiana Dental Association’s AIR Leadership Program and now serves as the chairman of the Infant Oral Health Subcommittee for the Indiana Dental Association. He is part-time faculty at Riley Hospital’s Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program, and he is board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. John serves on the local Girls, INC board, the Indianapolis Tennis and Education Board as well as the Indiana University Pediatric Dentistry Alumni Board.
Dr. John and his wife, Kaitlin reside in Carmel, Indiana. They have one daughter, Madison, and two dogs, Miley and Penny. John and Kaitlin met playing tennis and Kaitlin is a kindergarten teacher who shares a love for serving and working with children. They enjoy staying active outdoors, spending time with family, and learning how to parent a one-year-old.

Dr. Hana
Dr. Hana is originally from Tell City, a small town in Southern Indiana. She graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. She attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where she graduated with a Doctor of Dental Degree. Dr. Hana graduated with Cum Laude honors from Louisville and was inducted into the Kappa Upsilon National Honor Dental Society and the Delphi Society. After dental school, she continued on to complete her Pediatric Dentistry Residency at Indiana University School of Dentistry/Riley Hospital for Children. During residency, Dr. Hana was chosen to participate in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program at Riley Hospital for Children.

Dr. Hana currently lives in Brownsburg, IN with her husband and two dogs, Tilly and Winslow. Dr. Hana enjoys running, hiking with her husband and dogs, playing golf, and spending time outdoors. Dr. Hana can’t wait to serve the Shelbyville community!

Yammi
Office Manager
Yammi is our Office Manager and she is well-versed in front office coordination. She attended IVY Tech in Human Relations and found her love for children’s dentistry when she joined the EPD team in 2019. Yammi enjoys interacting with patients and ensuring their dental needs are met. She assists our Spanish speaking families whenever needed. When not in the office, Yammi enjoys traveling and spending time with family and her dog Oakley.
Jeanette Whalen
Hospital & Credentialing Coordinator
Jeanette has been with Emhardt Pediatric Dentistry since the day we opened in 2017. She served as our Office Manager for 5 years and now is our Hospital & Credentialing Coordinator.
With over 35 years of Pediatric Dentistry experience, she is well versed in the dental field and currently assists families with their insurance as well as navigating and scheduling the operating room cases. She loves to interact with our young patients and families. Jeanette has been married 39 years, has two children, Lynnette and Bernadette and one grandchild named Haylee. She also has a recent addition to her family, Luna, a 3-year old Shepherd Husky Mix. She has lived in Shelby County for 17 years and loves spending time with family and friends. She enjoys sewing and all outdoor activities including camping and hiking.
Joanie
Bookkeeper
Joanie is a retired nurse, our bookkeeper, go-to for special projects, and Dr. John’s mom.
She has been married to her husband John for 41 years. She loves spending time with her 3 children and 6 grand-children. She also enjoys travel, reading and music.
Britney
Expanded Function Dental Assistant
Britney has worked in the dental field for 17 years. She cares for children in the office as well as assisting Dr. John in the operating room. She has previously worked in a general dental practice, oral surgery and as an orthodontic assistant. Britney has worked at EPD for the last 5 years. She loves building relationships with her patients and families. Britney lives in Fairland with her husband Tim, daughter Taylor, and son Tucker. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, outdoor activities including campfires, cookouts and going to the racetrack. They are proud member of the Fairland community where Tim also serves as a volunteer firefighter.
Andrea
Expanded Function Dental Assistant
Andrea attended IVY Tech in 2011 and Kaplan College in 2013 to receive her dental training. After spending several years in a general dental practice, Andrea realized her passion for pediatric dentistry. In 2021, Andrea joined the EPD team. When not working, Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband Wes, bonus daughter Alyssa, and her fur babies Eva, Belle, and Cooper. Andrea enjoys spending time outside planting flowers, caring for her chickens and just relaxing. Andrea is a lover of all things Disney and someday would love to relocate to Florida to be closer to Disney World.
Sara
Expanded Function Dental Assistant
Sara started her career in the medical field as a CNA in 2017 before pursuing a career in the dental field. Sara joined our team in 2020. She finds passion in connecting with each patient and making their appointment fun and positive. Sara loves all aspects of her job but especially enjoys teaching children about dental health. She often visits schools dressed as a tooth fairy and loves making the children smile. Sara enjoys spending time with her spouse, Jamison and son Emmett. They enjoy playing outside with their dogs and horses, trying new restaurants and spending quality time together.
Alexa
Expanded Function Dental Assistant
Alexa joined EPD in 2020 and received her dental assisting certificate at the Dental School of Indianapolis. She enjoys building relationships with patients and expanding her dental knowledge. As a dental assistant, she enjoys watching her patients become more confident in themselves and their smiles. Alexa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors and making memories with her son, Gannon. Alexa loves to travel and visiting Myrtle Beach when she can.
Keiganne
Expanded Function Dental Assistant
Keiganne attended Central Nine Career Center and received her dental assisting certifications through Ivy Tech and IU School of Dentistry. She joined the EPD team in 2023 with 6 years of experience as a pediatric dental assistant. She finds passion building relationships with her patients and creating positive dental experiences. Keiganne loves all aspects of dentistry but especially enjoys watching her patients grow and understand the importance of taking care of their teeth. She enjoys outdoor activities including camping, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Jonathan and their dog, Willow.
Kyrstyn
Dental Hygienist
Kyrstyn received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2013. While working in general dentistry, found her passion in dentistry was working with children. Kyrstyn joined the EPD team in 2019. She enjoys connecting with her patients to ensure positive dental experiences and educating her patients to achieve optimal oral health. Kyrstyn and her husband, Joe, reside in Greenwood with their 2 sons, Ganin and Colsyn and Bella, their dog. She loves spending time outdoors with her family and attending her sons’ sporting events. In her free time, she enjoys reading, summer days and beach vacations.
Diana
Dental Hygienist
After graduating from IvyTech Anderson in 2014, Diana found her passion in dentistry was working with children. She joined EPD in 2017 and was one of the leaders in creating an environment to make children feel safe and comfortable. Diana also assists our Spanish-speaking patients and families. She truly finds it rewarding to care for our patients, easing their fears, and setting them up for a lifetime of great oral hygiene. Diana moved to Shelbyville in 2009 after marrying the love of her life, Daryl. Together they have 4 daughters. Diana enjoys spending time with her 11 nieces, baking, going to church, and tackling extreme DIY projects like building their home from the ground up!
Briana
Dental Hygienist
Briana is one of our dental hygienists who graduated from Ivy Tech Anderson in 2012, and has been practicing in pediatric dentistry since 2016. She is passionate about helping children start their dental care in a positive way. Her goal is to make her patients feel safe and comfortable. Briana lives in Greenfield with her husband Justin and their two girls, Piper and Hattie. They enjoy spending time together with their family and friends, and being outdoor as much as possible. Briana also loves staying active, crafting, and baking.
Kathy
Dental Hygienist
Kathy has worked in general dentistry as a dental hygienist for 30 years. She finds passion in building trust with each patient and educating them to achieve a lifetime of great oral health. Kathy resides in Morristown with her husband, Brian. They have two children and new additions of a son-in-law, daughter-in-law and two adorable grandsons. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, baking, going to church and vacationing in the mountains.
